Matsapha Town Council awarded great prizes worth E30 000 to some of its rate payers this morning. The awarding was done during the Pay Your Rates competition, which was the first of its kind for the council. The aim of the competition was to motivate ratepayers to pay their rates in full before the standard cut-off date for rate payments, 30th June. Matsapha Mayor Sandlane Zwane remarked that through this initiative “sakabuhlobo” loosely translated as ‘we are building relationships’. The competition draw took place on the 12th of July 2018.
The council would like to extend gratitude to all the 416 ratepayers who paid their rates in full as the council was able to collect E8.1m from the competition. The collected amount when compared to last year’s collection showed that the council was able to collect E2.2m more than the E5.9m that was collected in 2017.
Zwane assured the ratepayers that the existence of the council was to serve their needs and not to Matsapha Town Council is here to serve ratepayers. They should feel free to speak up.
