Matsapha – The waste management for improved livelihoods project was on Friday the 24th of June launched by AMICAALL Eswatini and Matsapha Town Council. This is a new waste management project in the town of Matsapha that will open new business opportunities for the youth and women of the town.
The Chairperson of Council Councillor Alice Russo conveyed her utmost appreciation to the funding donors of the project and further encourage the beneficiaries of this project to work hard in ensuring the success of the project. “As Council, we are grateful for the wonderful partnership we have formed with AMICAALL Eswatini who is playing a critical role in the implementation of the project. We are also grateful to Catalyze Eswatini and the United Nations Development Programme for providing the necessary funds for the implementation of this ground-breaking project”, she said.
Leading in the implementation of this project are 10 young people from Matsapha, comprising of young people from the peri-urban space of the town. They are tasked with overseeing the collection of waste in the project focal areas and baling those recyclable products in preparation for selling to recycling companies.
