Matsapha – To equip the youth of Matsapha with the necessary business creation skills, Council held its third edition of the Matsapha Youth Economic Development Forum, under the theme “creating sustainable futures”. This initiative was held on the 22nd of November 2023, wherein several youth-focused organizations and financial institutions were invited to provide the youth of Matsapha with financial assistance information.
The focus of this year’s forum was creating sustainable futures through the use of recycling as a tool for generating sustainable income for young people. Over the past two years, Council has been implementing a youth-led recycling project aimed at assisting the youth of Matsapha to generate sustainable income through the management and recycling of waste.
This year’s guest speaker Thamsanqa Sibandze – KRTC touched on issues of beliefs, conditioning oneself, unlearning and relearning patterns, recognizing opportunities and the importance of gratitude, resourcefulness and seizing opportunities, financial literacy, and shifting one’s mind-set.
Council would like to commend Eswatini Bank, Youth Enterprise Revolving Fund (YERF), Eswatini National Youth Council (ENYC), United Development Programme (UNDP), Likusasa Letfu Organisation, Eswatini Environmental Authority (EEA), Youth Chamber of Commerce and Industries Eswatini and Standard Bank for attending this important forum that saw the youth of the town receiving essential knowledge and skills needed as they pursue their various business interest.
