To the entire community of Matsapha, it gives me great pleasure to once again wish you a happy and safe festive season for the year 2023. This has been a long but fruitful year and as Matsapha Town Council we have continued in our quest of providing you, our valuable stakeholders, with excellent municipal services. As we draw the year 2023 to a close, we are looking forward to the year 2024, where we will continue working hard to ensure the continued trailblazing development of this great town of Matsapha. We do note that we have had challenges as a town, especially when it comes to the issue of the road infrastructure in some parts of the town, and Council would like to assure the business community, residents, and the public that the necessary steps are being taken to address this problem.
The year 2023, saw the successful execution of the Local Government Elections which saw the appointment of eight (8) Councillors. I would like to commend the entire community of Matsapha for participating fully in this recent elections and this shows the commitment you have in developing the town. This year, Council began with the development of a new strategic document known as the Integrated Development Plan, and to this effect, Council conducted stakeholder engagement meetings to gain inputs from the stakeholders of the town about what they would like to see Council implementing in the five upcoming financial years.
As the town’s local authority, we are entirely grateful for the support and contributions given Council in the year 2023. Many of our stakeholders continued to abide by the town’s rules and regulations, which we commend as Council. In the year 2024, we would like to encourage that same spirit and determination as we all have a role to play in the success of this great town.
During this festive season, Council offices will be operational and we will continue to provide you with much-needed municipal services. Matsapha is a vibrant town and as we start preparing for our festive shopping, we would like to encourage you all to visit the shopping complexes that are spread out conveniently around the town. Matsapha has plenty of quality shopping complexes that will cater to all your needs.
Council will continue to ensure that it strengthens its collaboration with the Royal Eswatini Police Services as well as the established Community Police services to ensure that the community of Matsapha is kept safe during the festive season and beyond. As we wrap up the year 2023, I would like to request every one of you to rise and stand against gender-based violence! Violence has no place in our society and every one of us has a role to play!
In conclusion, on behalf of Matsapha Town Council, I would like to wish you a Happy Festive Season and a Prosperous New Year. Inkhosi inibusise!
