Matsapha Town Council continuously makes an effort to empower the community of Matsapha which will then contribute to the town’s development. To ensure this Matsapha holds a number of educational forums aimed at empowering the community and ensuring that they continue to comply with the town’s urban act.
The Council held a first of its kind, Business Forum which is a Local Economic Development (LED) initiative. The forum took place on the 24th of October 2018, at 7.30am, hosted at Esibayeni Lodge in Matsapha. This initiative was initiated by Council under the chairmanship of the Matsapha Mayor, Sandlane Zwane, whose drive is to see Matsapha and its’ ratepayers grow economically. Speaking during the breakfast meeting, Zwane invited business people to come forward with business ventures in which they would like to take on, which will offer employment opportunities in Matsapha and contribute to boosting the economy. Themed “Key Investor Opportunities Brought Closer”, the forum focused on discussions of currently available investment opportunities, such as those brought by the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and other investment avenues like SIPA.
The forum kicked off with a presentation on Matsapha Municipality business drive by the Town Clerk, Lucky Sukati, on the Local Economic Drive agenda. During his presentation he highlighted how this forum had provided an ideal platform for business people to explore business platform they could venture or partner in as Matsapha has numerous projects coming up. The meeting was aimed at providing insight on key investor opportunities which shall be highlighted through presentations and dialogues with key Business representatives. The event was successfully attended by a number of business people who were provided a platform to interact on possible business avenues.
