The High Commission of India – Eswatini in collaboration with Matsapha Town Council and the Ministry of Commerce, Trade & and Industry held the 2nd edition of the Khanya Diwali Bazaar Event at the Matsapha Town Council Civic Centre. The aim of this event was to celebrate and promote the amazing work done by artisans and crafters in Eswatini. Delivering her opening remarks, the Chairperson of Matsapha Town Council Cllr. Alice Russo stated that the town of Matsapha was grateful to the High Commission of India in Eswatini and to the Ministry of Commerce, Trade & Industry for choosing the town of Matsapha to host such an important event. “This will go a long way in improving the lives of Emaswati and will also provide them with jobs through the skills they possess”, she added.
Present to bear witness to the amazing talent of the Eswatini and Indian crafters was the High Commissioner of India in Eswatini Ms. Radha Venkataraman, Honorable Members of Parliament, the Regional Administrator of the Manzini region Chief Gija and the community of Matsapha.
Tokky Hou from the Vukani BoMake Project said that they were very excited for being part of this event. “We were really excited for being part of this event, and we are very appreciative of the prize that we won. This serves a motivation for us to put more effort in what we are doing to so that we can inspire more women to be part of the Vukani BoMake Project”.
