Matsapha – On the 21st – 22nd of June 2022, Council held Food Handlers refresher workshops aimed at sensitizing food handlers and proprietors on the requirements related to food safety in Matsapha. The participants of these workshops comprised of formal and informal traders operating within the town boundaries.
To assist Council in the facilitation of these workshops was the Eswatini Standards Authority (SWASA) which tackled the aspect of food safety standards application. Precious Mamba who was a participant in these workshops said that they were grateful for this learning opportunity. “As a food establishment business owner I have learned a lot through these workshops, especially about the standards one needs to meet when operating a food business establishment. With this knowledge at hand, our business operations will be greatly improved”, she said.
These workshops are held annually by Council and aim to ensure that the town of Matsapha has safe food establishments that operate within the required rules and regulations.
