Matsapha has a new Mayor, His Lordship Mayor Sandlane Zwane. This appointment took place on the 7th of May 2018 at the council’s chambers, during the council’s inauguration. This is an annual procedure where council members convene and vote for the appointment of a new Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Finance Committee.
During the council elections Councillor Siphesihle Nsibandze, was appointed Deputy Mayor of the Town. The Finance Committee is chaired by Councillor Musa Ndzimandze and the Deputy Chair is Mavela Shongwe, with one member, Councillor Bongani Mkhatshwa.
The mayor shared a few words after his appointment stating how humbled he was by the appointment and extended his thanks to God. Addressing the councillors, Mayor Zwane urged that the council to work in a manner that will ensure that ratepayers are provided with the best of services, as they are an integral part of the town.
