Stray Animal Control Plan in Matsapha

5 June 20190

Matsapha urban area is surrounded by Swazi Nation land and farms which result to a number of cattle and livestock found straying within the town. Matsapha Town Council has made an agreement with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to collect stray cattle from the urban area at least once in two to three weeks for impoundment at the Manzini Pound facility.

To control the stray animals on the other days rangers have been made available to patrol the town for any stray animals. The ranger plays the role of identifying and driving out any stray animals from the town.

To further strengthen our efforts of keeping stray cattle away, a car has been availed to patrol at night and around town on weekends. In the long term, Council intends to establish her own pound facility which will enable prompt removal of stray cattle and other livestock upon identification or reporting.
