Swaziland Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (SPPRA) trained Matsapha Town Council employees on the National Public Procurement Act. Matsapha Town Council has taken up this initiative with the desire to make sure that the organisation fully complies with the country’s Procurement Act. The training took place on the 17th of October 2018 ending on Friday, 19th October 2018.
Affiliated in tender and procurement processes, Matsapha Town Council participated in the training with the aim of capacitating her Tender Evaluation and Tender Board Employees This was done with the aim of promoting fairness, transparency and ensure that public procurement is non-discriminatory, especially since Matsapha municipality upholds accountability, transparency and excellence values as enshrined in the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) 2018-2024.
After this training the public can be assured that the municipality will be able to deal with tenders accordingly as stipulated and regulated by the Public Procurement Act, 2011. Topics covered by the training included an understanding of the public procurement reform; public procurement and the external environment; public procurement cycle; public procurement process; and public procurement identification of the need. Beyond just the public procurement processes, the training covered Tendering and Evaluation topics and discussions on legal issues of the Procurement Act.
