More AID For Mozambique Through #Everydropcounts

Although some months have passed since Cyclone Idai hit Mozambique, the severity of the distraction still calls for more help for all the survivors left behind. It is humbling how Eswatini, acted fast and provided aid to the neighbouring country, Mozambique. Matsapha Town Council, was also moved by the distraction left behind. Therefore the local authority initiated a Matsapha Donation Drive themed #EVERYDROPCOUNTS.

The official handover facilitated by Councillor Steven Motsa to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.

Yesterday, on the 26th of June 2019, Matsapha held a handover ceremony of collected donations to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, at the Matsapha Town Council Civic Centre. Matsapha Councillor, Steven Motsa, who was standing in for Matsapha Chairperson, Alice Russo explained that the donation drive called for all sorts of donations, namely clothes, food, blankets and even monetary aid as outlined in the theme. Matsapha Town Council Town Clerk, Lucky Sukati during his remarks expressed how such initiatives were still relevant before the damage could be controlled in Mozambique.

Matsapha was pleased to have G.Fox/Giant Clothing taking part in this initiative as they were able to make a large contribution of 1 500 T-shirts for both children and adults. Nomcebo Mahlalela, speaking on behalf of the organization mentioned that this was not the first donation that this reputable manufacturing company has made, as it always actively participates in initiatives that help the less fortunate communities.

The Council did not hold back from also participating in this initiative. MTC employees were also moved by the dire situation in Mozambique, and contributed clothes and blankets. Seeing that the damage did not only affect the elderly, the clothes donated were for infants and adults.

Collectively the item donated were handed over to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM). NCM Melusi Msibi, who was representing Sibongile Sgudla, excitedly expressed how he was pleased to be receiving the donations which they would safely ship to Mozambique.

In his closing remarks, Councillor Motsa would help ease and bring comfort to those who would receive the generous donations. Motsa then thanked all parties for participating in this initiative.
